Überhormones was written in 2018 thanks to Slovak Arts Council's stipend program in cooperation with the writer Nykola Košnárová, with whom Stroon worked on his previous composition Songs of Concealed Amplitude. The initial idea was whether humanity could be elevated to the next level, to so-called Humanity 2.0, by means of synthesis of hormones. „What would it be like if we could control hormonal secretion at will? What would we use it for and what it would do to our self-image? Writing the lyrics required studying the functions of the human endocrine system and the roles and effects hormones have in the human body.

The author of the libretto was fascinated by „our bodies' strife for stability, homeostasis“ and she adds that “during the creative process, the real hormones became so-called Überhormones, because they are analysed quite thoroughly in the piece. Yet all changes and mistakes are allowed during interpretation. The libretto is a sort of observation of chemical signalling which silently takes place in our body, without any ability to control it by our activity. Each part of the piece presents one or more hormones, together with scientific citations and facts which are combined with intense artistic contemplation on possibilities coming from imaginary power to control hormones.”

The choice of a mediator for this project was naturally a choir. The choral parts were recorded by STU Choir Technik lead by the choirmaster Petra Torkošová and music directorship by Matej Sloboda (EnsembleSpectrum).
